Description:
Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a client engagement, asking yourself, “How did I get here?” Perhaps you’re being challenged on confidentiality, or your client is resisting developing coaching goals or a plan? Maybe you realize that you’re working harder than your client. We call these “Sticky Situations,” issues that stress, distract from, or impede the client relationship, and they happen to everyone from time to time. The problem is they drain energy and hinder your ability to do your most impactful work.
Join Julie Hess, co-author of Do Your Best Coaching: Navigating a Coaching Engagement from Start to Finish, for a fun and interactive session designed to help you avoid sticky situations and increase your impact by bringing greater intentionality to your client engagements.
During this highly interactive session, we’ll do the following:
- Introduce the Intentional Engagement Framework which will provide us with a foundation for a discussion of sticky situations.
- Explore the top 10 sticky situations coaches encounter and discuss how to proactively avoid them and, if unavoidable, how to navigate them.
- Have the opportunity to “press pause” and reflect on your own experience of a sticky situation and generate ideas and best practices for how to avoid or mitigate them.
- Share some additional ideas and tools that can help increase your impact and avoid sticky situations
Takeaways:
- Understand the Intentional Engagement Framework and be able to apply it immediately to coaching engagements to create the container necessary to build a meaningful coaching relationship, avoid sticky situations, and do the deeply connected work that leads to great client outcomes.
- Have increased awareness of their current approach to engagements and notice where they may be falling into a habit and want to refresh their approach.
- Learn about the top 10 common sticky situations coaches encounter, how to proactively avoid them, and if unavoidable, how to navigate them.
- Recognize the importance of coaches learning in community and benefit from the connection and camaraderie built into this community development experience.
