Description

Join us in conversation with four ICF coaches as they share their experiences in creating inclusivity in their coaching engagements. They will share the role that cultural self-awareness, curiosity, and humility play in helping us recognize, appreciate, and support clients just as they are rather than by who we assume they are or how they should be.

Learning objectives:

  • Attendees will gain insights into how coaches can enhance their cultural self-awareness to improve their coaching effectiveness. They will explore strategies to recognize their own cultural biases and assumptions and understand their impact on coaching relationships.
  • Attendees will learn about the significance of maintaining curiosity and humility in coaching engagements. They will discover techniques to approach coaching conversations with an open mind, valuing each client’s unique cultural context without preconceived notions.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on real-life examples and case studies shared by panelists, including challenges and successes in coaching across cultural differences. They will consider how these experiences can inform and improve their own coaching practices.

About Kai Stowers:

Kai Stowers is a scientist turned Consultant and Coach specializing in leadership and team development and diversity, equity, and inclusion. A long-time mindfulness practitioner, Kai has experienced the transformative power of intentional development and healing.

Kai enjoys playing ice hockey and badminton. He believes that tackling big challenges requires patience, comfort with discomfort, and finding joy in the journey. His experiences as a white, queer, and transgender individual—having lived and worked as a female before transitioning—offer unique insights into gender dynamics in the workplace. About Danielle Marshall:

Danielle Marshall, an ICF-certified Executive Coach (ACC) and Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) is the visionary founder of Culture Principles. She integrates cultural competence with strategic organizational change, leading the development and implementation of Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) plans to establish accountable systems. Grounded in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Danielle uses a racial equity lens to drive systemic change through comprehensive assessments, workshops, and policy updates. Recognizing that strategy alone cannot fully shift organizational culture, she enhances the cultural intelligence of individuals and teams through targeted executive coaching, increasing their effectiveness in DEI initiatives.

Her dynamic coaching style cultivates curiosity and humility, enabling leaders to navigate and embrace cultural differences skillfully. This approach not only promotes inclusivity and innovation but also celebrates diversity, effectively integrating it into organizational practices, thus empowering organizations to thrive in a culturally diverse environment.
