Description:
As coaches, we often work with clients who are navigating significant stressors, including trauma, loss, and life-changing events. In this workshop, we will explore how to respond effectively and compassionately when clients are in crisis or going through the aftermath of devastating situations, such as the recent fires that have left many in Los Angeles without homes.
While life coaches do not treat clinical mental health conditions, it is crucial to know how to respond when a client is in crisis. Asking the right questions, creating a safe space for clients to share, and guiding them to appropriate resources are within your scope of practice as a coach. The ability to support a client in a time of deep distress or loss is an essential skill that could literally save lives.
Key Takeaways:
- Get a better idea of how to identify signs of crisis and life stressors.
- Learn the importance of asking the right questions, including how to approach sensitive topics such as suicidal thoughts.
- Know how to offer immediate emotional support and refer clients to the right resources, including when it’s time to refer out.
We’ll also discuss suicide prevention in the context of crisis management, emphasizing that life coaches can be pivotal in helping clients navigate those critical moments by knowing how to connect them with professional help.
By the end of this workshop, participants will feel empowered with the tools and knowledge to support their clients during difficult times, helping them find hope and healing even in the midst of their darkest moments.
