Description:
As coaches, we must reflect on our blind spots and be aware of opportunities for improvement. We receive messages from many different sources (family, institutions, education, media, etc.) that are often invisible or unnamed. This leads to the formation of unconscious biases, cultural stereotypes, and power dynamics. In this workshop, we are going to focus on how culture shapes our identity, and how that identity shows up in the room with us while coaching.
- Define diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
- Learn to begin to listen with awareness of how their own identity is influencing what they hear
- Identify how cultural conditioning and systemic inequities show up through both client and coach, and in the interaction between the two
